NATHAN SLOTNICK

A longtime YMS player turned goalkeeper coach, Nathan Slotnick is committed to helping the next generation of athletes develop confidence, technique, and a love for the game. Originally from Yardley, Pennsylvania, Nathan played at YMS for 13 years, gaining firsthand experience and deep ties to the club before transitioning into coaching.

He attended Pennsbury High School and continued his playing career at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, where he developed as a goalkeeper and deepened his understanding of the game from the back line. He later went on to play semi-professionally for Electric City Shock, competing at a high level and further refining his skills.

Now in his second year coaching at YMS, Nathan works specifically with the YMS Goalkeepers, focusing on skill development, positioning, and mental strength. One of his favorite moments has been teaching younger players how to dive for the first time—a small technical win that represents a big leap in confidence for young keepers.

Nathan’s coaching philosophy is straightforward and effective:
“Work hard, have fun.”
He believes in fostering a love for the game through effort and enjoyment, and builds character by encouraging players to cheer each other on and support one another, especially through tough moments.

What motivates him most is “teaching the next generation”—sharing what he’s learned and seeing the spark of excitement in his players. His advice for those trying to improve their game is simple and powerful:
“Play as much as possible.”

Outside of soccer, Nathan works as a scientist for a biotech startup focused on oncology, bringing both analytical thinking and empathy to his coaching. He’s a dedicated supporter of Swansea City AFC, and blends passion, precision, and encouragement in every session.
