A lifelong YMS player and now a dedicated coach, Zach LoBasso brings over a decade of commitment, firsthand experience, and a deep love for the game to the YMS sidelines. Originally from Yardley, Pennsylvania, Zach played at YMS for 10 years before continuing his journey in the sport as a coach and mentor.

He attended Pennsbury High School and played collegiate soccer at both Old Dominion University and Bloomsburg University. One of his proudest accomplishments as a player was winning the Conference USA (C-USA) Championship at Old Dominion, a highlight that reflects his competitive spirit and understanding of what it takes to succeed at a high level.

Now in his 10th year coaching at YMS, Zach currently leads the 2008 Boys Fury/Celtic, 2014 Girls Valkyrie, and works with the 2016 and 2017 Girls Academy age group. A standout coaching memory was taking the 2008 Boys Fury to the National League, a milestone that reflects years of commitment to player growth and team development.

Zach’s coaching philosophy is centered on getting players to enjoy and love the game, believing that passion is the foundation for lasting development. He also places a strong emphasis on character, noting, “It is extremely important. I always emphasize respect, discipline, and a strong work ethic.”

What motivates him as a coach? “My love for the game and my desire to always improve and learn more.” His guidance to players reflects that mindset: “That slight improvement is still improvement—and you’re on the right track.”

Outside of soccer, Zach is pursuing his Master’s in Education and exploring career opportunities in higher education. He enjoys watching movies, going to the gym, playing video games, and cooking—interests that reflect his well-rounded personality and dedication to personal growth.

Zach is also a committed supporter of the Philadelphia Union, bringing both local pride and tactical insight into every session he leads.
