Frank Oramas
Frank Oramas brings vibrant energy, positivity, and a deep love for the game to every session he leads at YMS. Originally from Jersey City, NJ, and proud of his Ecuadorian roots, Frank played collegiate soccer at Montclair State University after graduating from William L. Dickinson High School. Today, he coaches several YMS teams, including the 2014 Boys Juventus, 2015 Boys Dortmund, and 2008 Boys Comets.
Frank’s coaching style is grounded in encouragement and fun. He believes that a positive environment, where development is prioritized over winning, fosters the best kind of growth in young players. “Being positive, fun, encouraging, and prioritizing development over winning” is the foundation of every training session he leads. For Frank, coaching is about more than soccer—it's about teaching life skills like discipline, teamwork, resilience, and respect.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of coaching for Frank is seeing how much his players improve from the first day of the season to the last. He finds great joy in their growth and development, both on and off the field. His advice to young athletes reflects his patient and thoughtful approach: “Be patient, practice makes perfect. It’s not only about winning—it’s about getting better and having fun along the way.”
Frank’s playing journey has taken him to top national tournaments like the Disney Cup, Surf Cup, and Dallas Cup, and he’s trained with the U.S. U15 National Team. During his time in Ecuador, he also played for the U16 team at Barcelona SC, one of the country's most prestigious professional clubs. In college, Frank helped lead his team to two NJAC titles and two NCAA Elite 8 appearances.
His individual accomplishments include being named High School MVP as a freshman, and placing in the Top 25 out of 400 participants at both Sueno MLS (2014) and Sueno Alianza (2017).
One of Frank’s most meaningful coaching moments came not from a win, but from a heartfelt gesture—receiving letters and drawings from his players at the end of the season. “It reminded me of the impact we can make as coaches,” he reflects.
When he's not on the field, Frank enjoys playing soccer competitively and spending time with family and friends. He’s a passionate supporter of FC Barcelona and Barcelona SC (Ecuador)—a dual loyalty that reflects both his heritage and his deep passion for the sport.
