COACHING DIRECTOR

David Simpson is the Director of Coaching at Yardley Makefield Soccer (YMS) and has been a vital part of the club for over 25 years. Originally from Gourock, Scotland, David has made a lasting impact on the YMS community through his leadership, deep soccer knowledge, and commitment to player development.

He currently coaches the 2008 Celtic, 2009 Warriors, and serves as Associate Head Coach at Holy Ghost Preparatory School. His coaching résumé includes a wide range of roles, such as:

David holds a comprehensive set of coaching licenses and certifications, including:

• NSCAA Premier Diploma

• CBF Brazilian B License

• Coerver Coaching Certification

As a former collegiate player at the University of Glamorgan in the UK, David brings a player-focused approach to coaching. His style emphasizes accountability, tactical awareness, technical skill development, and most importantly, character building—both on and off the field.

David’s proudest coaching moments come from watching his players grow, not just as athletes but as people. He’s helped numerous players reach the next level in their playing careers and constantly encourages all his athletes to “enjoy the moments.”

A lifelong Celtic FC supporter, David brings a thoughtful and inspiring presence to every training session and sideline he’s on.
