The YMS Union players and families recently participated in a community outreach in Northeast Philadelphia at the JRA
One Sunday morning each month, hundreds of volunteers pack 3,000 boxes of food and then distribute these boxes to needy people living in the Greater Philadelphia region. Most recipients are elderly immigrants who speak little to no English (mostly Russian-speaking) and who depend on these boxes of food to make it through the month. The JRA is a mostly volunteer-run organization. The recipients of the boxes were so thankful for the food and it certainly felt great to see the gratitude on their faces and do something nice like this during the holiday season.
The Bortman’s (Mark, Dara, Ari, and Ellie) coordinated this effort for our team.Picture forthcoming...are the players that volunteered along with their families.
